An apparently healthy 8 year old Sachin had sudden onset of severe difficulty in breathing and had an episode of bloody vomiting!!!

Now 10 years old, investigations showed a birth heart defect- Transposition of great arteries, VSD and Pulmonary Stenosis: A condition with abnormally connected heart major blood vessels, abnormal opening between the two large chambers of the heart and narrowing of heart outlet to lungs- leading to abnormal mixing of oxygenated and unoxygenated blood.
Children with this condition are at significant health risk due to poor oxygen supply to vital organs like brain as well as suffer from poor growth and risk of severe infections.
