South Indian state of Tamil Nadu is witnessing its worst rainstorm of last 100 years. The situation in the capital city Chennai is deteriorating as a fresh wave of rain lashed the city with warning of more rains in next 48 hours. The unprecedented rains, has increased the death toll est. are up to 269 people so far. Given the severity of the situation, likelihood of outbreak of epidemics has increased significantly.

A First team of Doctors For You (DFY) is already in Chennai, conducting initial assessment and coordinating relief operations in Chennai from 6th of December and has signed agreement with the State Government of Tamil Nadu to provide public health recovery services in the metropolis and beyond. DFY will provide medical relief to the affected population in Chennai and its adjoining areas by setting medical relief camps for the affected population and their families along with provision of basic needs like water, food, hygiene materials etc. Volunteers including doctors and support staffs experienced in disaster relief work are being recruited as we speak and will be soon sent to the affected sites.
